Daniel O. Bernstine to Return for Commencement Address
What: More than 500 students will participate in Portland State University’s 2007 summer commencement ceremony; representing the more than 1500 undergraduate and graduate students receiving degrees summer term. Former President Daniel O. Bernstine will return to Portland State to deliver the commencement address.
When: Saturday, August 18, 2007, at 11 a.m.
Where: Portland State University South Park Blocks between Smith Memorial Student Union and the Simon Benson House, rain or shine.
Cost: The event is free and open to the public; seating is provided and available first-come, first serve. Spectators are also welcome to bring folding chairs or blankets. Parking will be available in Parking Structure 1 (1872 SW Broadway) and Parking Structure III (1631 SW 12th Avenue) for a fee of $4.

Background: Summer commencement is a shorter, less formal event than the spring ceremony. Graduates have the option of wearing a cap and gown, and tickets are not required.
In July 2007, after a decade of service, President Bernstine left Portland State to become the president and CEO of the Law School Admission Council, a Pennsylvania-based organization that administers the entrance exam for all ABA-approved U.S. and many Canadian law schools.
