Portland State University opens a fall marketing campaign this week to bring public attention to the impact students and faculty are making in the community and across the region.
The campaign includes television commercials on all major news programs in the Portland metropolitan area this month, online advertising on oregonlive.com, Web content, social media and promotions with community partners and campus student groups.
The theme is "Oregon is our classroom," illustrating how PSU provides every student with opportunities to go outside the classroom and work with businesses, schools, government, civic organizations, non-profit groups and others on real-world projects. The campaign also highlights how the influence, reach and relevance of PSU’s research activities are growing daily.
Portland State has grown to become the largest and most diverse university in Oregon, approaching 30,000 students this fall who come from every state and more than 90 nations. The campaign reflects that diversity, with students represented from PSU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Urban and Public Affairs, Graduate School of Education, Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science, School of Business Administration, School of Fine and Performing Arts and School of Social Work.
The TV commercials, which feature an animated chair moving out of the classroom into various locales in metro Portland and Oregon, is from a longer video about Portland State. The video can be seen on www.pdx.edu/insidepsu along with interactive features that show PSU’s growing partnerships across the country and the world, faculty research, student projects, campus news and other stories. For example, virtually every senior is required to complete a Capstone project, which range from helping local businesses to public service projects.
The moving chair from the TV commercials also will appear on banners on campus and on stickers that will go to hundreds of PSU’s community partners later this month.
