Oregon's Lab2Market Hosts Short Course on Technology Commercialization

What: Oregon’s Lab2Market Initiative is offering a short course, “Managerial Thinking for Technologists,” at PSU in September. The course will provide the fundamental terminology and concepts to participating undergraduates, graduates, faculty, staff and interested community members who want to learn more about the commercialization process. The course also targets innovators who plan to participate in a Technology Disclosure Competition that Lab2Market is hosting October 14, 2005. Learning during the course will be very interactive with featured companies providing valuable insights in content areas such as business model development, IP management, financing and technology alliances.


When: 2-4:30 p.m., September 6-9, 2005.

Where: Portland State University, Neuberger Hall (724 SW Harrison St., Room 454). Live video streaming available for remote students.

Cost: There is no cost for this course; there is fee for required course materials. Contact Candace Clement (see below) for more details.

Background: Oregon’s Lab2Market is a three-year initiative that facilitates the commercialization of novel technologies and the creation of high-wage jobs by forging networks between private-sector business expertise and world-class research at Oregon’s universities. At the end of the three years, Lab2Market researchers plan to have launched 12 new technologies through licensing agreements or start-up ventures.
