PORTLAND SUZHOU SISTER CITY ASSOCIATION

More than 175 people gathered May 27 for the Portland Suzhou Sister City Association's annual "Evening Under the Stars" gala at the Lan Su Chinese Garden. Award recipients included Lincoln High School, Concordia University, Portland Art Museum and OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Portland State University education major Andy An received the Newcombe Wang Memorial Scholarship, named after a former board president. The event raised $10,000 to help promote the organization's business, education and cultural exchange programs with Suzhou, China. Co-chairs were Robert Fraser, national account manager for Experient Inc., and Bonnie Starkey, corporate training manager at Portland Community College.
