Dear State Employees: 

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your service to our state. During my tenure as Governor, it has been a true honor to serve the citizens of Oregon, and I have always believed that what we have accomplished to make life better for all Oregonians would not have been possible without your efforts. 

We have experienced unprecedented economic challenges during the past eight years. But, in hard times like these, your efforts and dedication are all the more important to the people we serve. I know that your service can seem undervalued at times, but I want you to know that as I have traveled the state, I have consistently heard from citizens about their respect and appreciation for the services you deliver and your efforts to help their families find solutions in times of need. 

Our immediate future remains challenging, but I know that we are capable of meeting those challenges. I am confident that the strengths, abilities and commitments that you bring to state government will help us realize Oregon's great potential and accelerate our return to prosperity in the years to come. 

Thank you, again, for your service to the people of Oregon.
