What:
Oregon’s Lab2Market Initiative is offering a short course, “Managerial Thinking for Technologists,” at Portland State this September. The course will provide the fundamental terminology and concepts to participating undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff and interested community members who want to learn more about the commercialization process. The course also targets innovators who plan to participate in a Technology Disclosure Competition that Lab2Market is hosting October 20, 2006. Learning during the course will be very interactive with topics ranging from “Thinking Like an Entrepreneur,” “Making the Pitch” and “Finding the Money,” to “Intellectual Property Management,” “Technology Transfer” and “Reaching the Market From the Lab.”
When:
2–4:30 p.m., September 5–8, 2006.
Where:
Portland State University, Urban Center (506 SW Mill), Room 204. Live video streaming available for remote students.

Background:
Oregon’s Lab2Market is a three-year initiative that facilitates the commercialization of novel technologies and the creation of high-wage jobs by forging networks between private-sector business expertise and world-class research at Oregon’s universities.
