What:
Portland State's Harold Schnitzer Family Program in Judaic Studies and the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland will present a lecture at PSU by Deborah Lipstadt on her book, "History On Trial: My Day In Court With David Irving." The book tells the story of Lipstadt's libel trial in London against David Irving, who sued Lipstadt for calling him a Holocaust denier. Lipstadt will share the story of her struggle against Irving who was recently arrested in Austria for denying the Holocaust, and also talk more generally about Holocaust deniers and the emergence of new anti-Semitism.

Portland State University, Columbia Falls Ballroom at University Place (310 SW Lincoln St. on the corner of 4th avenue).
Cost:
Tickets for the event are $10 for the general public and free to any student. Free parking is available at University Place.

Background:
Deborah Lipstadt is the Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish and Holocaust Studies at Emory University. In additional to authoring several books about the Holocaust, Lipsdtadt was an historical consultant to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and has served as an advisor to former Secretary of State Madeline Albright on matters of religious persecution abroad. She has appeared on CNN, CBS's "Sixty Minutes," NBC's "Today Show," and is a frequent contributor to numerous national newspapers.
