What: As part of Portland State University’s Artists and Writers Series, Cholene Espinoza will discuss her new book, Through the Eye of the Storm: A Book Dedicated to Rebuilding What Katrina Washed Away (Chelsea Green Publishing). The book details Espinoza’s experience working with families in Mississippi to rebuild their homes and communities after Hurricane Katrina. All proceeds are donated to build a community education center to serve the Katrina survivors in Harrison County, Miss. on the Gulf Coast.
When: Thursday, April 20, 2006, 7 p.m.
Where: PSU Millar Library (1875 SW Park.).
Cost: Admission is free and open to the public. Oregon Food Bank donations accepted at the PSU Library.

Background: Cholene Espinoza graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1987 and is a former U2 pilot. She was an embedded journalist with the U.S. Marine Corps 1st Tank Battalion during the Iraq War and awarded the Air Medal and Aerial Achievement Medal for her service. Cholene currently works as a captain for United Airlines.
