David Ervin, Environmental Sciences and Management, Economics, and the Center for Sustainable Processes and Practices faculty, has been appointed chair of the National Research Council Committee on the Impact of Biotechnology on Farm Economics and Sustainability. During the next year, the committee will produce a consensus report of the findings of its study and identify future applications of plant and animal biotechnology that are likely to affect agricultural producers decision-making in the future. |

Jesse Dillard, Business Administration faculty, received the prestigious Accounting Horizons Best Paper Award at the American Accounting Association's Annual Meeting in Anaheim, Calif., this past August. The co-authored paper is titled “Beyond Competition: Institutional Isomorphism in U.S. Accounting Research.” |

Richard Clucas, Political Science faculty, has been appointed executive director of the Western Political Science Association beginning September 2009. Founded in 1948, the WPSA is one of the nation's leading political science associations with more than 1000 members. Its purpose is to promote the study and teaching of government and politics, to foster research, and to facilitate the discussion of public affairs. The executive director is the chief administrative officer for the association. |

Elise Granek, Environmental Sciences faculty, was selected to participate in Women Evolving Biological Sciences, an annual three-day symposium aimed at addressing the retention of female scientists and issues related to the transition of women from early career stages to tenure track positions and leadership roles in academic and research settings. |
