Institutional Research Board (IRB) Approval
Research involving Human Subjects is supervised by PSU's Human Subjects Research Review Committee (HSRRC).
Students should complete their Institutional Research Board ("IRB") forms AFTER the thesis proposal or project proposal is approved by the Department of Applied Linguistics.
IRB Approval takes 5-6 weeks -- even for an expedited review.
Pilot studies or field testing can be done before IRB approval, but the results of pre-approval work cannot be used in the thesis or project.
