Credits: Four
As one of Linguistics emerging sub-fields, we will take a journey together through the diverse pockets of study and application this entails. Our studies and discussions will touch on education, community involvement, linguistics, research, teaching and learning. We will explore established policies and theories from a number of disciplines related to linguistics, talk about the sensitivities and ethics surrounding speakers/languages, and increasing need for field experts who can meet the holistic needs of a language community. You will be asked to seek out your own definition of this field, and explore that through your final research paper or "hands-on" project.
