Net Impact Fundraiser for Haiti

Tyler Katzenberg, PSU Net Impact President, showcases some of the donate auction items.

On February 26, Portland State MBA chapter of the national organization, Net Impact, held a fund raiser that raised more than $1,300 for Mercy Corp's Haiti relief efforts.

Net Impact students held the fundraiser and raffle at Lucky Lab Brew Pub in northwest Portland.  Raffle items were donated from businesses such as Portland Roasting, Honest Tea, and the Oregon Children's theater, among others.  As many as 70 Portland State students, faculty, staff and community members attended, as well as Mercy Corps representative Jim McGowan.

According to Verena Lehn, Net Impact member and MBA student, "the greatest part about realizing this fundraiser was having a great team that put in so much work and derived their energy just from knowing that they are supporting a good cause. I was especially overwhelmed by the amount of support we received from the various companies and, of course, every single person that night. It is very comforting to know that, especially in the current economic environment, people care and are willing to support each other without any monetary return."

Net Impact is an international organization whose mission is to use the power of business to create a more sustainable world.  Portland State's Net Impact chapter organizes events through out the year, including community service projects.
