Profile

Guowu Yang, 2004-2005 Maseeh Fellow
Guowu Yang brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the electrical and computer engineering program when he came here from Wuhan, China. He graduated from Wuhan University of Technology with a master's in mathematics and taught mathematics for twelve years before a friend in Dallas, Texas recommended that Guowu apply to the Ph.D. program here at PSU.
During his Ph.D. studies, Guowu worked closely with advisor Dr. Xiaoyu Song on formal verification and quantum computing. Having always worked as a teacher's assistant while at PSU, receiving the Maseeh Fellowship enabled him more time to concentrate on research. Guowu has co-authored numerous papers. For example, a research project with Intel Corporation resulted in a paper titled, Implication of Assertion Graphs in GSTE (Generalized Symbolic Trajectory Evaluation).
In his spare time, Guowu is an avid Bridge player, which he claims is a great game for mathematicians! He enjoys the outdoors, hiking in the Columbia Gorge or skiing at Mt. Hood.
Guowu Yang received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in June 2005. He is now working as a research associate in the Maseeh College Department of Computer Science working on formal hardware/software co-verification of embedded systems.
