Mark S. Kaplan is professor of community health at Portland State and adjunct professor of epidemiology and community medicine at the University of Ottawa. He received his doctorate in public health from the University of California, Berkeley. He also holds master degrees in social work and public health. He has written widely on public health issues; his recent research focuses on the health and behavior of older Canadians. As a 2003-04 Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Kaplan studied the Canadian approach to population health.
