For most of us attending a United Nations (UN) climate conference like the upcoming COP28, is daunting if not impossible. And yet the need to get far more eyes on the process and grassroots voices at the table grows increasingly critical as climate disruption becomes more urgent and climate negotiations continue to fall short of what is needed. To that end we are releasing Connecting to COP28. This is an online portal for citizen engagement with COP28. As such it provides links to background information about the UN climate processes, webinars about it and issues associated with the upcoming COP, and recordings of and live-stream links to meetings from the COP, as well as suggestions for engaging with the conference from wherever you may be.
The portal is an evolving document that provides a gateway to numerous resources produced by the UN, public agencies, community groups, educational institutions, museums, citizen organizations, and others. So if you have suggestions for something we have not included, please email us and let us know fgransha@gmail.com.
