The Publication for Friends of the Institute of Portland Metropolitan Studies
Metroscape is the flagship publication of the Institute of Portland Metropolitan Studies, published since 2001. For most of that time, it was published as a glossy color magazine, with a circulation of nearly 3,000, including local government, elected officials, and PSU alumni around the Portland metropolitan region. Metroscape was published on a quarterly basis, with each edition focused on a theme, supported by brief articles featuring research conducted by faculty and graduate students from IMS and the Population Research Center (which was co-housed with IMS for many years), and occasionally, faculty from elsewhere in CUPA or the university. Subtitled “an atlas and mirror of the Portland metropolitan region,” the publication featured several recurring sections, including “Indicators of the Metroscape,” which highlighted a specific data point, and “The Landscape,” which highlighted a community or place within the region.
