FYE Themed Communities

Health & Wellness

This community is designed for students interested in health maintenance, physical wellness, outdoor pursuits and activities that help promote a holistic approach to a healthy lifestyle. Students within this community will exchange a variety of health tips on nutrition, stress management, and a balanced exercise/training program. This community will be housed within the FYE floors in Ondine.

Cultural Diversity & Awareness

This community will have an opportunity to participate in social, educational and cultural activities designed to increase cultural understanding and experiences. This community encourages students to engage in dialogue about social justice and diversity in a shared residential environment. This community will be housed within the FYE floors in Ondine.

STEMs (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Majors)

This community will be designed for students with academic and career interests in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This community is designed to link students with resources and opportunities that will support their academic and personal pursuits.This community will be housed within the FYE floors in Broadway.

Quiet

This community is an intensively quiet environment for students from all academic disciplines and majors. Students dedicated to a quiet living and study environment and who are committed to adhering to the 22-hour courtesy quiet hours are encouraged to select this community. This community will be housed within the FYE floors in Broadway.

Substance/Tobacco Free

In all of our residence halls we expect students and visitors to observe state and federal laws, in addition to University policies regarding the consumption of alcohol and other drugs. Students who are committed to a lifestyle without ANY use of alcohol, tobacco, or other substances are encouraged to sign up for this community. This community will be housed within the FYE floors in Ondine.

All residents of these communities may be asked to complete a Participation Agreement in accordance with the community once assignments are made. These agreements will not require participation, but will aim to ensure the purpose and integrity of these communities.

Please be aware that a selection of a themed housing community will limit you to a specific building within FYE. For example, if you select that you would like to live in the Quiet community (in Broadway), but select Ondine as your building preference, your selection of the themed housing community comes first and you will be placed in Broadway.
