Safe Campus

What goes into making a safe campus? Everything! There are a variety of departments, programs, and services that all help in creating a safe campus community.

Safe Campus

You're studying on campus or at home and you walk away for just a minute.  When you come back, your personal laptop is missing, all your school documents and class files are gone, your stress level rockets.  What can you do to protect your property?

Visit the main webpage of Campus Public Safety or OIT (Office of Information Technology) and install Front Door Software on your personal laptop at:  www.frontdoorsoftware.com/pdx.htm.

Once you've registered with your pdx email, you'll receive a four year license through Portland State University.

Front Door Software:

  • Students, Faculty and Staff can register their personal laptops for free.
  • Helps you recover your personal laptop as soon as someone turns it on.
  • Tracks your laptop's location.
  • Allows you to customize your security options - which can include blasting a message of your own unique choosing to your monitor.
  • Take 5 minutes to install the program today!
  • Notify Front Door Software online or by phone.
  • File a theft report with PSU Public Safety at 503-725-4407.

After installing Front Door Software, restart your computer and you will see a theft recovery screen appear.  Logging in is still password protected.

  • Visit www.frontdoorsoftware.com/pdx.htm
  • Owner sign-in.
  • Send a type written and/or talking message to your monitor.
  • Track your laptop's activity using GPS, cell triangulation, and Wi-fi positioning.
  • Create a lockdown code to protect your information.
