Student Confidentiality Statement

Have you marked your student records as "confidential" through the admissions/records office?

If you answered yes to this question, then please understand: Your confidentiality hold prevents the financial aid office from discussing your financial aid status with you via telephone or e-mail. If you are seeking information about your financial aid status, you must obtain this information, in person, at the financial aid front counter. Please be prepared to show the financial aid front counter staff valid picture I.D. upon inquiring about your aid. We encourage you to consider this before you mark your student records as "confidential."

If you would like to revoke your confidentiality hold, you must come in person to the Admissions/Registration/Financial Aid windows in the lobby of Neuberger Hall with valid picture ID and request to have the hold released.

Student records not marked as confidential are handled within FERPA guidelines. The student is able to ask questions regarding his or her specific information with staff via phone or email as needed. Generally, any dollar amounts related to FAFSA application data or award types and amounts will not be shared on the phone for any student.

If a student wishes to have their specific information shared with a parent, a spouse/partner, or an outside agency, they must make this request in writing to PSU PRIOR to any information being released.
