Event: Abraham Lincoln, His Legacy to Oregon, and his Relationship with U.S. Railroads: A Program for National Train Day

The Friends of History at PSU along with the Oregon Lincoln
Bicentennial Commission will join NARP and Amtrak in celebrating the first
annual National Train Day with a free program "Abraham Lincoln, His Legacy
to Oregon, and his Relationship with U.S. Railroads: A Program for National
Train Day."
This program is part of the educational programs the Friends
of History at PSU is co-sponsoring with the Oregon Lincoln Bicentennial
Commission during the year leading up to the national celebration of the 200th
Anniversary of Lincoln's Birthday. The program will explore the strong
"link" between Abraham Lincoln and the foundation of America's
Railways, using video, music, historical publications and literature.

Amtrak is using National Train Day to highlight the growing
popularity of trains as convenient, energy efficient, environmentally sound
ways to travel. The Friends of History
at Portland State
University is the non-profit support
group for the History Department at Portland
State University.
