Networking
One avenue for promoting collaboration is to establish better communications between the school, members and the community. Our strategy is to do this through this website, various listservs, and networking sites.
Listserv - Each department has its own list of faculty, students and alumni. The School will use this sparingly to avoid redundant messages.
Networking sites - We are using three networking type approaches now. Please join and contribute.
PSU Experts database: If you are affiliated with the School of the Environment, please enter your research expertise in the PSU Experts database at http://www.experts.pdx.edu/. We would appreciate it if you use "environment" as one of the key terms.
MyPSU group: If you are PSU faculty, staff, student, please sign up for the MyPSU portal at my.pdx.edu. Search the groups and join our School of the Environment group. This will be just another way that we can post announcements. MyPSU has some very nice features for tracking your current courses. It would be really helpful to get students to sign up and use this. We will be able to send major-targeted messages. If more faculty use this, we can push more students to this site.
LinkedIn - School of the Environment Group: Anyone in the environmental community can join LinkedIn at www.linkedin.com and join the groups for Portland State University and the School of the Environment. This could be especially valuable for alumni connections.
