ESR PhD Program

One of the major strengths of this program is to be able to draw from the expertise and wide range of expertise that is represented by the over 150 faculty and staff in the School. Although only some of these faculty are advisors for PhD students, the educational and research enterprise of the entire school is a resource.
The PhD program has changed a little over the last year. There is now a single PhD program for all of the School of the Environment. All students admitted in 2010 or later will be in this program. Under these new guidelines all students in this program will meet the same core requirements. Each student will have an individual course of study and research plan that is determined by their ESR PhD advisory committee. These are essentially the same requirements that exist now. If you are current student in the program you should clarify which guidelines you will be following with your advisor. If you are applying to the program you will be able to use the documents that are referred to on this page (see below).
Prospective PhD students will apply through the School of the Environment for admittance. You may also want to also contact faculty in research groups that you want to work in. Faculty or departments that get PhD application packets will forward them to the School of the Environment.
The updated PhD Guidelines for the School of the Environment ESR PhD have been posted.
