Doctor of Education (Ed.D.)

Specializations

The Graduate School of Education has one integrated doctoral program defined by specializations: Administration; Curriculum and Instruction; Postsecondary, Adult and Continuing Education; and Special and Counselor Education.

  • The Administration specialization is designed primarily for individuals who wish to increase their skills in the leadership and management of educational organizations and the study of educational policy in a K-12 setting.
  • The Curriculum and Instruction specialization best suits individuals who wish to enhance their abilities and leadership in curriculum and teaching.
  • The Postsecondary Adult and Continuing Education specialization (known as PACE) centers on the enhancement of abilities for leadership among those who strive to facilitate the learning and development of adults in college and non-college settings.
  • The Special Education and Counselor Education specialization emphasizes program leadership in school, community, and other agencies serving special needs of youth and adults.  The Counselor Education specialization area is filled and currently not accepting applications. Candidates interested in Special Education can still apply.
NOTE: Applicants who are interested in an emphasis in Sustainability Education enter the doctoral program through any one of the four specializations. The area of specialization will determine the organizational setting in which the student wishes to apply these philosophies and practices.
