Forrest Williams About Me

I am an Associate Professor of Economics at Portland State University and joined the faculty in 2014. I earned my Ph.D. from Texas A&M University that same year.

I am currently focused on a broad range of behavioral topics. Research on impure altruism and charitable giving will always be of interest to me. I have published research with students highlighting how to better teach the topic of bycatch and trash fish in classrooms or the impacts of others’ wages on a person's effort on tasks. Most recently I have been working on topics around deforestation and insurance programs in developing countries and trust in government and its relationship to coastal flooding in Oregon.

I enjoy working with students on papers and have advised multiple honors’ theses. I enjoy non-standard economics topics which is what drives me to study and teach behavioral economics.
