Key Indicator B2. Coverage of diversity goals in courses required for graduation
Coverage in the curriculum is not the same as student learning, but coverage is obviously essential. Documenting coverage does not document student learning, but it is a necessary condition for it, if students are to learn about diversity in our classrooms.
University Studies, the general education program that serves well over 95% of our undergraduate students, offers the following information.
- “Diversity Coverage in University Studies at Portland State University" [Download PDF], authored by Rowanna Carpenter, University Studies/OIRP. Note: This report includes both data on curricular coverage and data on student learning.
- A report on coverage of diversity in junior cluster course syllabi, from Jeff Gerwing, Sophmore Inquiry Coordinator.
- A report on coverage of diversity issues, based on a review of Capstone Program syllabi, from Seanna Kerrigan, Director of Capstone Programs.
