Rudi Nussbaum speaks on children’s leukemia and nuclear power plants
Rudi Nussbaum, Physics and Environmental Sciences emeritus faculty, was interviewed by the journal Environmental Health Perspectives about the scientific significance and public health implications of a recent study on childhood leukemia in proximity to German nuclear power plants. Children under five years of age, residing less than 5 km from the reactors, are at more than twice the normal risk to contract leukemia. The article "Childhood Leukemia and Proximity to Nuclear Power Plants" appeared in the October 2009 issue of the journal.
