Nancy Becker, Chemistry adjunct faculty, has received the 2009 Award for Grassroots Excellence, the American Dietetic Association’s top award for nutrition advocacy. Becker was nominated by the Oregon Dietetic Association for her leadership and work in public policy. In addition to developing, mentoring, and training leaders and students within the Oregon Dietetic Association, she testified before the Oregon Legislature on breast feeding and school nutrition, and worked with legislators on the importance of high nutrition standards for foods sold outside of the school lunch program.
