Glanville brings hot ticket sales

Season ticket sales are soaring with the recent announcement of Jerry Glanville as Portland State head football coach. Just days after his hiring, Athletics received approximately 500 new season ticket requests. Glanville, a former NFL coach and recent defensive coordinator at University of Hawaii, starts today, March 5. He is the 12th head coach in the history of PSU's program. read more >

Unique sociology and social inequality doctorate approved

The State Board of Higher Education recently approved a new Portland State doctoral degree program in sociology and social inequality effective fall 2007. It will be the first Ph.D. of its type to be offered in the Pacific Northwest. read more >

A strong start on recycling competition

After three full weeks of the Recyclemania competition, Portland State is ranked 15th out of 67 schools in the waste minimization category, which means the campus community is producing less waste per person than many other schools in the country. Portland's own Portland Community College Rock Creek Campus was number one. read more >

American history lecture features women and the West

Acclaimed American West historian and author Virginia Scharff will talk on "Home Lands: How Women Made the West" for the Gordon B. Dodds Endowed Lecture in American History Thursday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. in 338 Smith Union. The lecture is free and open to the public. Read more >

Free One-Act Play Festival starts this week

Fight Dreams, Kuwait, and Goblin Market are just three of the 10, one-act plays offered free in 115 Lincoln Hall this week and next. The annual One-Act Play Festival will feature noon plays on March 6-8 and 13-15. News from the Oregon Legislature

House Bill 2577, "Troops to Teachers" bill, was recently presented to the House Veterans' Affairs Committee. The bill would add independent college teacher education programs to the eligible list for veterans wishing to pursue education degrees. Help a child become a reader
