The College of Urban & Public Affairs is committed to providing scholarship opportunities in order to attract the best students and help them achieve their educational goals. The following is a current listing of all CUPA-endowed scholarships and fellowships, along with a brief description of each.
CUPA General Scholarships
UPA General Endowed Scholarship
This award is given annually to outstanding students in the College of Urban & Public Affairs.
State Treasurer's Urban Pioneer Scholarship
Annual scholarship available to minority undergraduate and graduate students who are successfully working toward a degree in the College of Urban & Public Affairs. Awards are based on financial need and academic merit.
* Varying awards of $1500 each.
Urban & Public Affairs Memorial Award
Annual scholarship available to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Urban & Public Affairs. This award rotates among the three academic schools that make up the college.

American Public Works Association Michael Lindberg Scholarship
Annual scholarship available to Masters students in Public Administration or Urban Studies and Planning. Awarded by the Oregon Chapter of the American Public Works Association to recognize and financially assist students who are interested in pursuing a career in Public Works Administration.
* One $2,000 award.

Vera Katz
Annual scholarship available to a single parent (male or female)who are admitted to a graduate degree program in the College of Urban and Public Affairs (Masters or Ph.D.) and who demonstrate a commitment to public service.

The Joseph and Alice Savel Scholarship
Annual scholarship to provide a PSU graduate student a scholarship who is pursuing a careerrelated to long-term care of the elderly. The family created this scholarship in an effort to promote the principles of person-centered care provided with dignity and respect for all elders, regardless of the elder's degree of disability or dependence.
* One $1,000 award, non-renewable.
Nancy Chapman Endowed Scholarship
Annual scholarship to provide a Ph.D. student in the College or Urban & Public Affairs with demonstrated financial need, and a promise of accomplishment in an academic or professional career. Preference will be given to students who have a dissertation proposal accepted by his or her committee.

Cascade Chapter of the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2)
Annual scholarship for a MURP or MPA student interested in making public participation an important focal point for their career.
* One $5,000 award, non-renewable.
Yaden Family Endowed Scholarship
Annual scholarship for full-time undergraduate students with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and with demonstrated financial need who are majoring in a degree program inthe College of Urban & Public Affairs.

Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning
Ernie Bonner Equity Planning Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student with a clear commitment to equity planning as the focus for professional and/or scholarly work. Available to incoming and returning students in the MURP and US Ph.D. program.

Maurie Clark Fellowship
Awarded annually to an outstanding Ph.D. candidate in the College of Urban and Public Affairs. The recipient must have an approved dissertation outline and intend to use the fellowship to support research activities.
* One $6,000 award.
Norris & Stevens Real Estate Student Fellowship
Students must exhibit an interest in the commercial real estate field, be in their junior or senior year or a graduate student, and be accepted into a degree program in the College of Urban & Public Affairs or the School of Business Administration. Students should submit a one-page resume and a 300-word essay describing their interest in commercial real estate and how it fits in their academic and work future. They should also describe any extenuating circumstances, such as financial need.
* One or two awards of $1,000 each.
Phyllis Robideaux Wiener Memorial Scholarship
Annual scholarship available to undergraduate applicants with junior or senior standing in the fall quarter and at least three terms of full-time study remaining.
* One $1,000 award.
Sumner Sharpe and Margaret Strachan Endowed Scholarship
To be awarded to a student accepted into the Master and Urban Studies and Programming, is at least 30 years old, and is committed to pursuing a career as a practicing planner.

Mark O. Hatfield School of Government
Frank and Nadezda Munk Memorial Scholarship
Annual scholarship available to senior-level undergraduates and graduates students in political science and international studies with high promise of achievement in international affairs.

Hatfield Prize in Political Science
Each year, the Division of Political Sciences announces a topic and invites political science majors to submit essays to compete for the award. All undergraduate political science majors are eligible for this renewable award.
* One $500 award.
Katrina Matilda Pongracz-Bartha Memorial
This award honors Katrina's dedication to women's political issues and her efforts supporting herself financially in pursuit of a degree. The scholarship is awarded annually to an upper-division female student with satisfactory progress towards a degree in political science. Preference given to applicants with job or family responsibilities and demonstrated financial need.
* One $300 award.
Ron Cease Founders Award
Prof. Ron Cease, founder of the Division of Public Administration, and his wife Jane Cease led active careers with the Oregon State Legislature and were involved with PSU. This scholarship honors students wishing to follow similar careers by providing financial assistance for graduate students pursuing careers in public service. Preference will be given to students in the Division of Public Administration.

School of Community Health
Jack S. Schendel Commemorative Scholarship
Scholarship available to an outstanding health education major in the School of Community Health with a minimum GPA of 3.25.
* Two awards of $500 each.
Milan Svoboda Memorial Fund
Awards recognize outstanding undergradute students majoring in Health Studies. Applicants must be sophomore or junior level students with minimum 3.25 GPA. Selection based on PSU transcripts, personal essay, and letters of support. This scholarship is awarded to a student in the School of Community Health who is pursuing a career in public health.
