Sponsored Projects

Sponsored Projects (SP) provides a number of services on behalf of the faculty of Urban and Public Affairs. We serve as the point of contact for both the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP – pre-award) and the Research Accounting (post-award) office. This eliminates the need for faculty to search throughout the university for answers when questions or issues arise. It also provides an advocate for faculty when finding solutions to special circumstances or when problems and issues do arise.

Pre-award services include building project budgets in collaboration with faculty for their sponsored activity proposals. When available, we review the terms and conditions of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and/or Program Announcements (PAs). SP will also review the proposed scope of work to ensure the proposed budget will meet the requirements of the work.

Once an award has been made, SP can provide budget status and analysis upon request. All Banner purchasing and invoicing transactions route to SP for approval and is an important piece of compliance oversight. We prepare Labor Distribution Forms (LDFs) for unclassified personnel working on sponsored projects and frequently consult with Center/Institute/Division (C/I/D) staff relating to Graduate Research Assistants and hourly wage employees.

It is our hope that faculty will utilize the skill and expertise our staff provides. For more information please go to the Research Administration website for more detailed information. We also welcome you to contact us: Jill teVelde 503 725 8092 or Kristi Hansen 503 725 4070.
