Criminal Justice Policy Research Institute

CJPRI provides policy makers throughout the state with a forum in which issues of policy and practice may be explored, using objective, performance- based criteria. It is also designed to bring together the varied resources of Portland State University and coordinate those resources with other institutions of higher education to address issues emanating from the justice community.

CJPRI is involved in two major projects for 2008-2009.

1) Evaluation of Safe Start: Promising Approaches for Children Exposed to Violence. (Funding source – Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention through RAND Corporation). Dr. Laura Hickman is the Co-Principal Investigator in partnership with the RAND Corporation.
2) Racial Profiling Research. (Funding source – National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through ODOT Traffic Safety Division). Dr. Brian Renauer is the Principal Investigator, Emily Covelli is the Project Manager.
