Noyce Scholarship Program FAQ

What financial assistance does the PSU Noyce program offer?

The Noyce program offers a $20,000 scholarship as a forgivable loan. Students receive a $10,000 scholarship stipend per academic year. The "loan" is 100% forgiven upon successful completion of the teaching obligation in a high needs school for four years following graduation from the Noyce program. Noyce Scholars have a six-year window to complete this four year teaching obligation. The scholarship stipend is considered part of the total financial aid package allocated to each student through the PSU Financial Aid department. Funds are divided up by terms of enrollment and disbursed in equal parts per term. For example, students who expect to be enrolled full time during the summer term will receive four disbursements, one each for fall, winter, spring and summer term. Those who do not plan to enroll during the summer will receive three disbursements to cover the regular academic year (fall, winter and spring terms).

What are my obligations once I graduate from the program?

The Noyce Scholarship is awarded as a forgivable loan. All Noyce scholars must teach for two years for each year of funding received at a high-need public school within eight years of graduation. Failure to either complete the two year program or to work in a high needs school within eight years of graduate will cause the scholarship to repaid, plus interest and fees.
