Security Awareness Programs

During student orientation at the beginning of Fall term, students are informed of services offered by the Portland State University Campus Public Safety Office as well as being provided information and tips to maintain personal safety.  Throughout the school year, the Campus Public Safety office, in cooperation with other University organizations and groups, present crime prevention awareness sessions addressing concerns such as sexual assault and theft.  These groups include housing residents, staff, faculty, international students, and student organizations.

In addition to these sessions, to students and employees are provided crime awareness and prevention information through brochures and handouts that are available in the CPSO lobby, as well as distributed in resource fairs and other events.

When time is of the essence, information is released to the university community through security alerts posted on the CPSO website, the university email system, or the PSU Alert system.
