The Peer Mentor program also provides advanced Communication students with the opportunity to showcase their academic competencies and leadership skills through mentoring other students.
Five to six mentors are selected each year to serve in this three-term leadership experience. Mentor qualifications Students who are enrolled at least part-time and are interested in becoming Communication Studies Mentors are required to meet all of the following criteria:
- Communication Studies Major or Minor
- Junior, Senior, or Graduate level
- Good Academic standing with Major GPA of 3.0 or better
- Have taken at least 24-30 credits in Communication Studies
- Show commitment to learning and student success
- Desire to work intimately with students In addition to meeting these qualifications applicants are required to submit a written application, which is phase one of a two-phase selection process.
Applicants who are selected during phase one will be scheduled for a formal interview, from which final selections will be made.
