Communication Scholarships and Awards

Undergraduate students should peruse the PSU web for the University’s scholarship and award information. A good place to begin is at the PSU Scholarship website.

Communication students are invited to apply for departmental awards each spring. The 2013 application deadline will be announced in January 2013. Turn in all forms to the Department of Communication in hard copy. Each application has its own eligibility requirements and procedures so please review the information below.

Communication Alumni Scholarship

The Communication Alumni Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Communication who have demonstrated academic excellence in a diverse range of communication courses. Applicants should also have shown constructive participation in the face-to-face or virtual classroom and/ or in outstanding service to the community. The scholarship is for two one-time awards of $500 each.

Barbara Exner Vogelsang and Susan Poulsen Scholarship

The Barbara Exner Vogelsang and Susan Poulsen Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in Communication who has demonstrated academic excellence and need. The scholarship is for a one-time award of $250.

Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) Scholarship

Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) Scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior beginning Fall, 2012 undergraduate student majoring in Communication who has an interest in journalism, particularly about automotive, technical, mechanical or consumer topics and who works part time or has a financial need. The scholarship is for a one-time award of $1000.
