M.A. in Chemistry

The M.A. program is designed for the student who wishes obtain an advanced degree in chemistry, but for whom the time commitment of a traditional research degree (M.S.) is not feasible due to (typically) employment obligations. The M.A. program involves advanced course work (9 courses), a literature project, and seminar presentation.

Students may choose from the following concentrations for the MA Chemistry degree: Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and Materials Chemistry. To obtain a MA degree in Chemistry with one or more of the above concentrations, the student must take at least 4 approved graduate courses in the specific area.

All M.A. candidates must satisfy the university foreign language requirement. Consult the Bulletin for further details.
