Incoming Students
Students wishing to enroll in Chemistry 221 for fall term, should complete a placement exam. We are interested in students having the best opportunity to succeed in their study of science. Students that do not place ready for general chemistry have two options, (1) enrolling in CH 199 in the fall, a 4-credit 10-week course that will help fill in the gaps in knowledge and skills, or (2) enrolling in CH 299, Headstart Chemistry, at the end of summer (September 6-16, 2011), a 3-credit 2-week intensive preparation course.
Two options are currently being offered for placement into general chemistry.
1) Log on to: http://www.psuchemistry.learnerweb.org, complete the multiple-choice assessment. Print the results page and bring it to orientation. This option is free.
2) Log on to: ALEKS Assessment. This assessment will cost you $25. Successfully testing ready for General Chemistry will guarantee you a spot in the fall general chemistry course. If you do not test ready initially, you can use ALEKS in the learning mode and test again. Please bring your ALEKS results with you to orientation.
