In the fall of 2010, CES partnered with Ecos Consulting (now Ecova) to conduct a sustainable operations audit for the Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA). CES' portion of the audit included analysis of TCCA's solid waste and recycling, hazardous waste, and transportation systems.
To start, CES conducted detailed waste assessments for the two main TCCA facilities; located in Tillamook, OR and Boardman, OR. Solid waste and recycling findings were then combined with existing facility data to establish baselines and determine recycling diversion rates.
Findings for each facility were first presented individually, as many of the materials, processes and disposal systems varied greatly. CES then identified a number of waste reduction strategies and provided systems for tracking waste data. TCCA is now using the report provided by CES and Ecos to improve and expand their corporate sustainability program.
