Janet Marie Bennett

Janet Marie Bennett, PhD, founded the Intercultural Communication Institute (ICI) and now directs the University of the Pacific individualized Master of Arts in intercultural relations. She specializes in developing theory and training methods in intercultural communication. Dr. Bennett created the liberal arts program at Marylhurst University and facilitates professional development for university faculty and administrators, international student advisers, health care providers, corporate managers, caseworkers, and others in the private and public sectors. She was given the Senior Interculturalist Award from the International Society for Intercultural Education, Training, and Research, as well as the Golden Penguin Award from the Oregon Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development.

Karen Bjorklund

Karen Bjorklund, MS, is the principal of Bjorklund Business Relations and provides consulting and training on management, team building, communication, planning strategies, and marketing. For more than 12 years, she has been a speaker at national and local conferences and has led seminars and instructed classes. Her awards and honors include the Outstanding Manager Award from the Oregon Liquor Control Commission and the Award of Excellence from the Oregon Columbia/International Association of Business Communicators.

Steven Browning

Steven Browning, PhD, is Director of Learning Strategies and Content Development for QuickCompliance Enhanced Learning, where he manages the design of e-learning suites and blended learning solutions. He has taught courses in writing for online environments and digital pedagogy in the University of Washington’s Departments of English and Technical Writing, as well the University of Houston’s Scholars’ Community and Department of English. Since the late 1990’s Dr. Browning has been developing and managing e-Learning design teams for clients including pharmaceutical and biotechnology corporations, software manufacturers, television and media companies, continuing education providers, and several governmental agencies.

Glen Fahs

Glen Fahs, PhD, is adult education director of training and organization development for the Cascade Employers Association, a human resource nonprofit agency serving more than 500 organizations. He has directed several continuing education departments and served as a management consultant in all sectors for large and small organizations, such as Nabisco, Time Warner, Entek International, Multnomah Athletic Club, cities, counties, and Hollywood Entertainment. For more than six years, Dr. Fahs was responsible for the state of Oregon's statewide management training. He has performed board and other volunteer leadership roles for United Way, the Oregon Ethics Commons, and the American Society for Training and Development.

Ralph Hall, MBA, CPLP, has been working in and around the learning and development field since 1996. He works as a senior trainer and training manager at a software company in Vancouver, and has worked in related capacities in several organizations and industries. Mr. Hall has taught technical and “soft skills” training to all levels of organizations in industries ranging from steel mills to fitness products; from city government to software. He has been heavily involved in projects including system implementations, bringing new facilities online, new product introductions, training programs, etc. He has served on the board of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) Cascadia Chapter and two other non-profit organizations in the area. He is dedicated to connecting learners to content in a way that will improve performance and lives. Mr. Hall has an MBA from The Ohio State University and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Distance Education from Penn State.

Bob Hanks

Bob Hanks, MBA, has more than 25 years of management, consulting, education, training, and public service experience. Currently, as the Director for Business and Real Estate Programs at Marylhurst University, Mr. Hanks is responsible for the overall leadership of the MBA program, the Undergraduate Business Program, the Real Estate Degree Program, and the Online Business Programs. Prior to his role at Marylhurst, he served as the Chair for Undergraduate Business and Management at the Oregon Campus of the University of Phoenix. Mr. Hanks was employed by the Southland Corporation for 17 years where he held a variety of positions including Franchise Training Manager, Field Consultant, and Retail Information Systems Coordinator. During his tenure as Franchise Training Manager, Mr. Hanks developed training programs and provided leadership over the NW Region.

Rebecca Perry

Rebecca Perry, MA, is a seasoned leadership coach and consultant with over 20 years of experience in the private and public sectors. Partnering with leaders at all levels in the organization, she supports clients to identify and expand their strengths and achieve increased effectiveness. Ms. Perry's early management career included coaching and training the management team of a Fortune 500 company, where she was recognized as being among the company's top internal consultants. As an independent consultant, she's successfully coached and developed leaders at Hewlett Packard, Mentor Graphics, Microsoft, Nike, Bonneville Power Administration, the State of Oregon, universities, and a wide range of small and mid-sized organizations. Clients describe her approach as focused, insightful, engaging and results-oriented. In addition to holding dozens of certifications in tools such as the MBTI and Hogan Personality Assessment, she is a certified mediator, a member of the International Coach Federation and is affiliated with Accomplishment Coaching. Her master's degree is in applied behavioral science and organizational systems.

Katherine Stevens

Katherine Stevens, MEd, is an instructional designer at Creative Media Development, where she is responsible for designing classroom, multimedia, and web-based training. Ms. Stevens has 10 years of experience as an instructional designer and has many years of experience in software development. She is past president of the Cascadia Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development.


Dan Vetter

Dan Vetter, MS, is president of Vetter Solutions, an independent consulting firm specializing in instructional design, training delivery, and process improvement. Mr. Vetter invested 12 years working in training and development and continuous improvement at a Fortune 500 company in Omaha, Nebraska, prior to moving to Portland. He has taught in the human performance improvement programs at the University of Nebraska and Drake University as well as serving as president for the Cascadia Chapter of ASTD.
