Information Competence Rubric- "The purpose of these rubrics is to provide descriptions of performance-based guidelines which can help to distinguish between levels of student performance." They may also help "align content, instruction, and assessment" and foster the necessary partnerships to promote student success. The site operates under California State University.
General Education Rubrics- This rubric library, published by California State University, Fresno, includes rubrics for Critical Thinking, Writing, Integrative Science, Integrative Arts & Humanities (Upper Division), and Writing.
Group Work Self-Assessment- This spreadsheet, created by Indiana University, categorizes skills questions according to what 1) I do as part of my team 2) Could be improved 3) (I would consider as) Adequate and 4) (I would view as a current) Strength. This group assessment calls for personal reflection and the generation of concrete action plans that are then discussed with at least one other member of the team.
Levels of Performance for Framing and Defining Ill-Defined Problems- This resource created by the United States Air Force Academy, succinctly categorizes problem-solving situations as excellent, satisfactory, or deficient. Each level is carefully defined in an outline list of characteristics, with the broad distinction between groups being the level of awareness of the relationships and biases involved, dedication to address the problem in a systematic way that is motivated by the end goal, and willingness to use multiple methods to resolve the conflict.
Rubrics for Engineering Assessment- California State University, Chico, published this collection of rubrics as a resource for the assessment of laboratory exercises, oral presentations, senior projects, and written reports in the field of engineering.
Rubrics for Math and Science- Exemplars offers rubrics for math, science, (and recently for writing), which are particularly appropriate for the elementary classroom environment. Each rubric specifies the target age or grade level to which it applies, as well as the national standards it helps assess.
Rubrics for University Learning Outcomes- Recently revised to "show the developmental sequence of proficiency" of each rubric, this collection of resources produced out of Bowling Green State University offers downloadable word documents on the following subjects: inquiry, creative problem solving, decision making, writing, participation and leadership, presentations, and assessment. A final, interrelated resource is the Student Learning Self-Assessment form, included at the bottom of this web page.
*Rubrics from the AAC&U*- As part of the VALUE project, teams of faculty and other academic and student affairs professionals engaged in an iterative process over eighteen months wherein they gathered, analyzed, synthesized, and then drafted institutional level rubrics (and related materials) for 15 of the AAC&U Essential Learning Outcomes, creating the set of VALUE rubrics that appears below. The rubric development teams relied on existing campus rubrics when available, other organizational statements on outcomes, experts in the respective fields and faculty feedback from campuses throughout the process. Each VALUE rubric contains the most common and broadly shared criteria or core characteristics considered critical for judging the quality of student work in that outcome area. Outcome areas are divided into the following three categories. Please click on the individual outcomes below for a pdf of the rubric.
