Assessment Resource Network
The Assessment Resource Network (ARN) served as the Action Council for the president's initiative on assessment from 2000-2006.
The mission of the ARN was to foster student learning assessment at Portland State University and to develop a vision and language for assessment that can be shared by academic units across campus. ARN meetings provided a forum for sharing assessment information and strategies across academic units as well as support for scholarly endeavors related to student learning assessment.
The responsibility for the provision of assessment services and the conduct of central assessment activities resided with the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE). The CAE assessment staff therefore provides administrative support to the ARN. The CAE Director and Assessment Associate serve as permanent members of the ARN, as does a representative of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning.

ARN members were appointed by the president. The principles underlying the appointment of members were set out in the Common Policies for the President's Action Councils. As in all presidential initiatives councils, the ARN relied on the academic expertise of the Portland State faculty and took an institutional perspective towards the issues assigned to it.
