American Association of State Colleges and Universities- Established in 1961, the AASC&U represents 420 public college and universities, dedicated to the support, assessment, and quality of higher education throughout the United States and in Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
Association of American Colleges and Universities- AAC&U is the leading national association concerned with the quality, vitality, and public standing of undergraduate liberal education. Its members are committed to extending the advantages of a liberal education to all students, regardless of academic specialization or intended career. Founded in 1915, AAC&U now comprises 1,200 member institutions—including accredited public and private colleges and universities of every type and size.
Campus Compact- Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1,100 college and university presidents - representing some 6 million students - dedicated to promoting community service, civic engagement, and service-learning in higher education.
Community-Campus Partnerships for Health- CCPH is a nonprofit organization that promotes health (broadly defined) through partnerships between communities and higher educational institutions. Founded in 1996, CCPH's network includes over 2,000 communities and campuses across North America and increasingly the world that are collaborating to promote health through service-learning, community-based participatory research, broad-based coalitions and other partnership strategies. These partnerships are powerful tools for improving higher education, civic engagement and the overall health of communities.
Hands On Greater Portland- Hands On is a non-profit organization focused on connecting community members with diverse volunteer opportunities that create meaningful, rewarding change in the Portland-metro area. The organization's online search engine helps direct volunteers to service projects that address real-world community needs that also speak to their individual interests: feeding the hungry, teaching children, housing the homeless, restoring the environment, etc.
I Have a Dream Foundation- I Have a Dream Foundation Oregon was founded in 1990 to help low income kids reach success in school and college. Aiming for this goal, the foundation offers a 10-year, year-round program of mentoring, tutoring, cultural exposure, community service and enrichment activities. The program begins in third grade when a community of mentors "adopts" an entire class and remains with every single Dreamer through graduation and into their university, college, vocational, or trade school transition.
International Partnership for Service-Learning and Leadership- Founded in 1982, IPSL is a not-for-profit educational organization serving students, colleges, universities, service agencies, and related organizations around the world by fostering programs that link volunteer service to the community and academic study. Undergraduate immersion programs are offered in 10 nations, not including a Masters program in International Development and Service.
New England Resource Center for Higher Education- NERCHE is a center for inquiry, research, and policy, which supports administrators, faculty, and staff across the region in becoming more effective practitioners and leaders as they navigate the complexities of institutional innovation and change. Guided by a grassroots approach to developing collaborative leadership, NERCHE focuses on change processes in higher education to build diverse and inclusive communities.
PHC Ventures- Led by civic engagement practitioner, Patti Clayton, PHC Ventures offers professional development, resource materials, consultation, and program evaluation in the fields of service-learning and educational leadership. Emphasis is placed on curricular engagement, which involves the intentional, collaborative, and systematic design of community-engaged teaching, learning, and scholarship, so as to build capacity for change agency and democratic civic engagement.
Talloires Network- Started in 2005 and housed out of Tufts University, The Talloires Network is an international association of institutions committed to strengthening the civic roles and social responsibilities of higher education. The Network's goal to create a global movement of engaged universities, envisions a world in which higher education institutions do not exist in isolation from society; they serve as a vibrant and dynamic force in their societies, incorporating civic engagement and community service into their research and teaching mission.
United Way- United Way of the Columbia-Willamette (including United Way of Greater Portland) invests donor contributions in health and human services in Clark, Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties. Volunteers and community experts identify critical issues and make investment decisions that are targeted at the region’s most serious challenges. Through a commitment to collaboration, partnership and measured results, United Way improves people’s lives and creates long-term change in the community.
