Portland Piano International: Roman Rabinovich

Medtner's Sonata-reminescenza aches with nostalgia and longing, a perfect vehicle for Rabinovich's highly sensitive artistry, while Stravinsky's Piano Sonata looks back to the sonatas of Beethoven as inspiration for its colossal emotional scope and melodic beauty. And each of the precious gems in Shostakovich's 24 Preludes showcases the composer's love for the deep wells of expression made possible by the piano.
