Exhibition Statement
Many are talking about the ʻinternational experienceʼ as critical to contemporary education. It is often agreed that in an educational forum, such an experience is irreplaceable! For the last eight years the ART ITALY courses, offered at PSU by Bill LePore and Horia Boboia, presented art students with the opportunity to travel, study, marvel in a wealth of cultures and engage in a creative dialog.
Last summer, a group of fourteen students and the two PSU professors, traveled to I taly for six weeks, visited the Venice Biennale and lived, worked and studied in Macerata. The students, graduate and undergraduate, came from PSU, UO, SOU, and Oakland College, Mi
chigan. AHA International organized the program in conjunction with The Education Abroad Office at PSU and Filiberto Bracalente, the Macerata Site Director. Professors Bill LePore and Horia Boboia, conducted the courses. The group was diverse and dynamic and the overall experience was rich and varied.
“Made in Italy” exhibition is the studentsʼ response to the ARTITALY experience, reflecting on their visit to the Venice Biennale and on living and making art in Macerata.
Thank you to all the participants and organizers.
