Spend 6 weeks in Italy, immersed in the cultural wealth of both past and present. Visit Rome and Florence viewing both contemporary and historic art and architecture. Return to the studios at Macerata and develop a small body of work. Engaging in an on going dialog between contemporary and historical art will offer students an opportunity to better understand the complexity of contemporary art’s present manifestations. Read more
STUDY ART HISTORY IN ROME

Study art history in Rome this July with PSU art history professor Jesse Locker! An intensive, two-week exploration of the city's monuments and artworks, and a chance to live like a local in the historical heart of the city. C ome to an info session Nov. 30 to learn more about it, or contact Prof. Locker at locker@pdx.edu for details.Rome is a city of unparalleled artistic riches whether painting, sculpture, architecture, or city planning. This course is intended to serve as an intensive introduction to Rome's artistic and cultural heritage, with an emp hasis o n the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
Through daily excursions in conjunction with lectures, readings, student presentatio ns, students will gain a grasp of fundamental issues in the his tory of art a nd knowledge of Rome and its environs.
