Shattuck Transformed
In September 2008, the Department moved back into fully-remodeled Shattuck Hall, a beautiful 1915 red brick elementary school. A $13 million transformation produced dynamic facilities including a multi-level open plan, naturally-lit studios, a roof-top gallery, digital lab, and an extensive materials lab encompassing model-making, woodworking, metalworking, foundry and digital fabrication.
AIA Design Awards
On October 17, 2009, the Portland Chapter of the American Insitute of Architects recognized the design and awarded the project one of two top Honor Awards plus an Award for Sustainability. Architects for the project were SRG Partnership and the contractor was Howard S. Wright.
ACEC Building of the Year Award
In January 2010, Shattuck Hall received the top award of Building of the Year from the Oregon chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies. Systems Engineers on the remodel were PAE Consulting Engineers.
