Barcelona Summer Program 2006

Studying the Barcelona Pavilion

Gaudi's La Pedrera Barcelona Student Sketch of Olympic Village Sketching in the Girona Cloister

In July, ten students completed a three-week summer study program in Barcelona. For the fourth time, the program was led by Professor Rudy Barton and afforded students with an opportunity to study one of the world's most dynamic and extraordinary urban laboratories. Students were able to stroll the Ramblas, examine Roman ruins and Gaudi structures, and hold conversations with Barcelona architects.  Trips to nearby villages and the city of Girona afforded comparisons with Barcelona's best works.  As part of a journal project, students conducted in-depth studies of several the region's best urban public spaces.
