Senior Year Planning Guide
What to Do Your Senior Year
September
- Check with your guidance office or career center to see if a Portland State University representative will be visiting your high school or local college fair.
- Check registration dates for the S.A.T. and/or A.C.T. Portland State University S.A.T. code: 4610; A.C.T. code: 3492.
- Start thinking about a good time to visit campus.
October
- Attend financial aid nights and college fairs offered by your school or organizations in your community.
- Begin looking into outside scholarships through your guidance office or career center.
- Start an online Application for Admission to Portland State or request a paper application from the Office of Admissions, Registration and Records.
November
- Preview Day, an annual open house for prospective freshmen
December
- Bridges, an annual open house for high school students from ethnically diverse backgrounds
January
- Submit your completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (F.A.F.S.A.) to the federal processor as soon after January 1 as possible to be given priority in funding. The federal code for Portland State University on the F.A.F.S.A.is 003216.
- Begin working on your application.
February
- Scholarship deadline is February 1.
- PSU Friday, half-day open house event
- Try to submit your F.A.F.S.A. by February 1.
- Ask your guidance counselor about Advanced Placement (A.P.) examination dates and registration.
March
- Watch for the results of your F.A.F.S.A., called the Student Aid Report (S.A.R.). If you need to make corrections, do so right away to avoid a delay in the processing of your financial aid.
