  • Dr. Henning earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Vermont in 1995. He joined the Criminology and Criminal Justice division at Portland State University in 2001. In 2005 he helped launch PSU's largest fully online degree program, which provides working students from across the country with access to all of the courses required for the completion of the Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice.

    Dr. Henning's current research and community service focus on helping criminal justice agencies respond to family violence. Recent projects include redesigning the Portland Police Bureau's domestic violence investigation form, the development of an automated risk assessment system used by the bureau's Domestic Violence Reduction Unit, and the creation of case tracking databases for several local organizations. Dr. Henning also consults with criminal justice agencies regarding data collection and analysis.
