Kristine Nelson is the new dean of PSU's Graduate School of Social Work. Nelson joined the Graduate School in 1993 and during her tenure has served as a faculty member, associate dean, and interim dean. Nelson holds a D.S.W. from University of California at Berkeley and has extensive experience in child welfare, family-based services, and cultural issues from her time working at Polytechnic of North London, Southwest Texas State University, and University of Iowa.

The Graduate School of Social Work offers the only accredited graduate social work education program in Oregon. Each year, students in the school spend over 150,000 hours in local health and human service agencies.
